Lenovo thinkpad R50e BIOS bad flash, how to access USB drive

I have a Lenovo (IBM) R50e an attempt to update the BIOS proved fatal and now all I get is a brief flash of the lights when the power button is pushed followed by a blank screen.
I have read hundreds of forums and articles detailing ways of re- flashing the BIOS by using a USB floppy, none of these forums have hinted at what keys need to be pressed on my particular notebook to access the USB drive, can anyone help with this process? Is it even possible on this notebook?
