Sony Notebook PCG - K14 , dont see new memmory..? why..

ANy idea why my Sony notebook PCG-K14 dont see my new memmory i buy 2x512 mb Crucial PC2700 and my laptop only showing that i still have 448 MB as with my old sticks 2x256 MB.
ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
