Is there a way to update the bios on a ThinkPad iSeries 1721 2627-721 that has a dead main battery?

This worked for me (Use at your own risk!).
This could probably be done with a cd also though I haven't tried it.
1. Make a bootable floppy or usb drive (if your system supports it); easy usb step posted here: http://www.thepcspy.com/read/bootable_usb_flash_drive.
2. Copy / paste BIOS update on same bootable media
3. Reboot
4. Type the full file name (with extension e.g. I9100A06.exe).
If you don't remember name just type dir... will show file(s) and dir (if any)
5. Follow on screen instruction(s)... system should reboot and done. Remember to remove bootable media when completed.

JUST READ!

Guys, as many of u i have been searching for hours in order to find a way to flash a Thinkpad BIOS with out a charged battery just to realize this:

-JUST READ THE INSTRUCCIONS.

In the Lenovo site the following text is given (at least for the model T23):
"Note: For unattended update, specify the file name with options "-s -a -s". (Example: C:\Temp\1auj20us.EXE -s -a -s) The BIOS is updated without any user interaction."

If u do that u will be able to update the BIOS and the Embedded Controller Program Version without a charged battery and without making any kind of customized bootable disks or something extra.
This worked for me and maybe will be usefull for someone else. BYE.
