Alienware Area 51 m7700

Hi guys,
I have an Alienware Area 51 m7700 which has a Clevo D900T motherboard. Its processor is a humble old Pentium 4 HT 3.06 GHz LGA-775 socket. I tried changing the processor but the laptop would not run. I figure that since HT poses as a dual-core processor anyway, then as far as the system is concerned, the whole system is dual core, and there should be no problems with the new processor. Thus, I think the only barrier between me and more speed is a modded BIOS which allows for newer processors. I need help with this since I don't have a clue as to what I'm supposed to do, so I need your feedback, guys.
