I need to update my BIOS to the latest version and have downloaded a floppy disk utility to do so from the Lenovo site. I have also read the whole thread regarding this issue.

Hello,

I have a problem, I try to upgrade BIOS on IBM TP 600, but during upgrade it checks if battery is charged and because my battery is not working anymore I can't do an upgrade, how could I bypass this, because I have no possibility to put there working battery.

The problem is I have no floppy drive and no access to one, and i don't know how to unpack the files from the utility to make a CD rom version to boot on my laptop. I have tried to "subst" another drive name to fool it into thinking it is writing to another drive but that give me errors that are beyond my knowledge.

Does anyone have a copy of the files listed so I can get my bios updated?

or even better an ISO image so I can burn them to CD (all the links to ISO images in the posts are out of date!!)

$0029000.fl1
$0029000.fl2
FLASH2.EXE
PROD.DAT
UPDTFLSH.EXE
updtrom.exe
USERINT.EXE
UTILINFO.EXE

Thanks
Simon

You should be able to download a bootable CD from lenovo's site, make sure you if you have the widescreen version or not. If you do you'll have to have download a different update. If you've got a 64-bit OS, which I suspect you may, then you'll definately have to use the CD.

I had to download and burn the CD just now because I have Windows 7 RC 1, 64-bit version installed. I'm about to run it now, and I'm hoping it won't mess up my modified FireGL drivers or limit the memory it's using for Hypertransport. Good luck. :)
