BIOS Updates forum

hi all
here is my story
i have made bios update through win7 and had power failure in that process
my laptop still work but with lot of problems:
1- no keyboard or mouse or wifi
2- cpu fan is not working at all
3- laptop starts automatically when i plug th ac power cord
4- when the laptop starts , no back-light for the display tell the windows work

now i use the laptop with external keyboard , external mouse , external wifi adapter, and external cooling pad -but it still have over heating issue .

ps:
1- i found a way to fix temporarily the problem by putting .bin file on usb drive and pressing win-key with "B" button before plugging the ac power cord and then press the power button, but i cant make the laptop stay off after i plug the cord "problem 3"
that way worked for me once but it is not working anymore
2- when try to flash the bios for another time , error msg pup out "CAN NOT OPEN FLASH1.SYS" what is happening ?

take your original receipt of purchase and the laptop itself to the nearest compaq service center. Upgrading the bios is always at your own risk, you probably will have to pay them to fix the thing.

but the big problem is that there are no near Compaq service center
the closest is in another country
so iam with my own with this
any hints will be appreciated

what country are you in? I think HP/Compaq have centers in about everywhere.

actually i live in Palestine-west bank
no hp centers as i know

update: now i am still using the laptop and when i try to install the update it give me a message : can not open driver Flash1.sys
i think if i could only fix this i can update the bios successfully



any hint ??

is flash1.sys anywhere on the drive you are running the update from?

yes it is in the folder where the update is.

so something is preventing from flash1.sys being loaded. Can because the file is damaged or the file is read-only or because the bios chip itself is defective...

i have downloaded the package from hp website many times but the same
