hi. i have this laptop here, with the harddisk newly upgraded to 160gb.

but when installing windows, it only recognizes 128gb. it is possible to mod/patch the bios to recognize the full capacity?

BIOS Type: Phoenix
BIOS Date: October 12th 2004
BIOS ID: Rev 1.0 XXX-None
BIOS OEM: 3A10
Chipset: Intel 3580 rev 2
SuperIO: Unknown
Manufacturer: Acer
Motherboard: TravelMate 4000

here's the download page http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/no ... _4000.html

and here's the link to the bios ftp://ftp.sas.ewi.utwente.nl/Outgoing/T ... 1E3A10.WPH (modded bios due to acpi issue. more on that here http://www.sas.el.utwente.nl/home/laans ... te4000.htm)

my system is using an ati mobility radeon 9700 just in case

It's not possible for us to mod Phoenix Bios. But as the HDD is at least recognized as 128 GiB, space above that size should be accessible via Windows or Linux. IT should show up as non-partitioned area in the windows disk manager

awww darn

ok, i'm using windows 7 x86. during install itself, the installation only detects 128gb.

after installation has completed and windows has loaded, computer management still shows the harddisk as 128gb. no signs of any unpartitioned space whatsoever.

any recommendations?
