IBM Thinkpad 390X - BIOS Update with dead battery?

Hi guys!
Been googling for hours and havent been able to get this to work;
I wish to update my IBM Thinkpad 390X Bios with the newer version (0.55) but i cant because the battery is dead,
i have tried the "Create clean bootable floppy and copy/paste files from bios disk to new floppy" trick but when running"
FLASH2.EXE /U it just goes:
Updating Bios...
Update successfull!
And it does than in like 2ms, and when i check to see if it updated, it has not.
Anyone got any ideas?
