I have a Trogon mp-993 notebook made by chicony. This is my Bios information

Specs of computer

mp-993 Trogon
500 MHZ Celeron-original
196MB RAM-upgrade from 64 MB
20 GB Harddrive-upgrade from 6.4 GB
DVD-ROM-orginal

The reason that I would like to see if there is any other bioses out there is because this bios will hang on a 40 GB drive. This notebook could last me several more years if I can get it to 40 GB. Or if anybody knows of a patch or workaround.

Please contact our technical support department for BIOS upgrade.

Try that. If you get new BIOS and it still does not support HDDs over 32GB, save your BIOS to a file and send it to my e-mail. I will patch it for you.

BTW.: What a nice thing - notebook with Award BIOS!

I managed to find the very same release here:

I checked the BIOS and, it's true, it has no support for HDDs>32GB.

So I patched it for support upto 128GB here: http://wims.rainbow-software.org/ajz/

If you don't have the flasher, use the one included in the first URL I mentioned.

Yep... it took me quite a while to find it...

And, it's true... it's quite nice when laptops have "standard" BIOSes like AWARD or AMI... I just hate proprietary BIOSes like IBM, PHOENIX, DELL, ACER, SYSTEMSOFT, etc.
