I am trying desperately to find any kind of update for my bios because it's troubling me.
I own a Sony Vaio PCG 717 200Mhz 128MB 10GB (harddrive new)
My BIOS version is: PhoenixBIOS 4.0 "r0135s0"

Is there such thing as an upgrade for it at all?

I tried google, forums - but the laptop is from '97...

I would be grateful for any help
:)

Thanks!!

yep, tried sony - but they are not of a big help: "just send it in" (Basic repair will cost 200$ fixed). not their online support - not on the telephone...

... oh well the bios is locked although never put in a password, the bypass password provided by vaio didn't work, the laptop doesn't recognize my ne HD fully (only 8 of 10 GB), with a fix from IBM (HD travelstar) it's impossible to run recovery after the IBM utility (runns right after bios and asks for boot cds, but will only accept ones with "setup.exe"s on there - my recovery doesnt have... :?

But THANX for trying to help!!!

Hello,

The BIOS link in Soupy's post is revision: RO216

have you tried this revision?

Be careful, if you have a password in place you may have problems with the BIOS update.
