I have an AcerNote Light 370C that will not allow me to boot from the internal CD Rom. I believe it is due to not having the BIOS settings correct for the boot procedure. I do not have an external floppy for the laptop hence the need to boot from the CD ROM. The BIOS is version 2.0 It provides with with an option for Diskette Drive A: with all the standard floppy size options but no CD ROM. It does however provide an option to boot from CD ROM. I created a CD Boot disk following "Bart's Modular Boot Disk" instructions but to no avail. I still receive a message stating to insert a system disk. With the hardisk empty I have no choice but to get this laptop booted by another means and the CD ROM is the only means. I'm sure that I must have the seetings incorrect in the BIOS to correctly boot from the CD ROM so anyone that can tell me what they should be would be greatly appreciated.

Borrow a bootable operating system CD. That will let you know if it works or not.

I have created one by following the methods mentioned at "Bart's Modular Boot Disk" website but am unsure as to what the boot sequence should be in the bios to get it to work. A, A then C, C, etc. Also should I enable the boot from CDROM option? The bootable CDROM is an image of a bootable floppy diskette.

You may have followed the instructions to the letter, but you won't know you got it right unless you can test it on another system, or you can test a CD you KNOW works on your system.

CDROM, A, C

Well, yes, if you want to boot to CDROM, you need to enable the boot from CDROM option.

Got it to boot!

Changed the bios to A, C for the boot sequence. No CD ROM option available. It booted fine and my files off the disk are accesable. However when I run "fdisk" it tells me no Fixed Disk present. Another problem to meddle through I guess...

Thanks for you help though on stage one of my dillema. :)
