hi i need some help. my unit is a Dell 700M inspiron. i got my bios corrupted and now i cant boot it up. The only thing here is to unsolder the bios chip and reprogram it using a willem programmer but my problem is this....

how can i decompress/decompile the exe file which is downloaded from the dELL website. i downloaded the A01_700M.exe from dell website and i couldnt get the rom file. i used the tool LZexe which i saw in the forum too but it is of no use.

I am quite helpless with this so i do hope there are experts there that can help me extract the exe file and get the rom file

thanks

There are some interesting parameters for the bios update program.. maybe one of them will dump the bios:

Just in case somebody needs them ;)

Hi.

Thank you very much for this.

<DELLBIOS update program.exe> -writeromfile / -writehexfile / -writehdrfile

are the most important switches. :D

writehexfile doesnt seem to work anyway... I would say that -readgzfile is interesting too ;)

-readgzfile makes it possible that the self extracting DELL BIOS update file
uses another/ an external (gzip-ed) BIOS file for the FLASH process.
