Hi Guys,

I have the 8611 error problem and I'm tying to go to the BIOS "config" to fix it from there, and I tried f1 to f12 and tried shutting it off and on again many times but nothing worked, so help please.!!! and would that work if I just open the laptop and cut the ribbon (wires) that link the trackpoint to the motherboard!? would that affect other devices!!!?

Thanks

Trackpoint error is usually caused by the flat wide cable being broken near the connector on the small add-on card on top of the mainboard.

So best way to boot is to open the laptop and take the keyboard open a bit and twist the cable and then try to boot. Once it boots without 8611 you can go the disable trackpoint either in Windows or by editing CMOS data.

Another possibility is to borrow a keyboard from some other Thoinkpad and then boot and disable trackpoint.
