Notebook Acer aspire 1520

This notebook have a poor bios, and i need the option to boot from an usb cd-rom or an usb pen. It's possibile to add this function? The bios is Phoniex 4.0 Release 6.0.
Another problem is with windows vista, i can't install the beta because the computer freeze after the boot logo.
It's possible to load a firmware for another pc with the same chipset?
