HP Compaq NX9010....Help please........blank screen

Hi,
This is my first post on here and appologise if i have missed the answer through searching the forums.
I have a HP Compaq nx9010 notebook and through an act of madness downloaded the bios update directly from HP's website. I followed the instructions and installed it but when it shut down ( to resart, so i thought ) it failed to restart and left the screen blank and none on the power lights on yet the fan was wering like a mad thing.
I tried to restart the notebook but the power light comes on for a second and then goes blank again, and again the fan starts. I tried to reboot with the recovery cd in the drive but it wont work..
I read a thread that explained this problem but i have tried to email the poster with no luck. I have contacted HP but they don't seem to have a clue what i'm talking about.
Is there an answer out there? it has to be the bios update i installed.......
