Hey there has anyone here thought about the possibilty of creating a speedstep utility from the exsisting code written by Marcus Miller?

It would be great to extent the battery life or maximizing performance by being able to switch from the low multiplier to the higher multiplier or vica versa on-the-fly like INTELs speedstep utility for the 600X.

The big question is though...Its possible to make the processor multiplier to be tied high but can they be tied low again by the same method to change the multipier during operation?

In principle it could be done, but it propably would not receive much users, because enabling higher speed requires a small hardware mod. Most users do not want to open the box.

Is it possible?

Is it possible to switch from the high speed to the low speed with your mod? As you know, wmarcusm's software only does low->high. Is it a software limitation or hardware one? If there is a way to do it in software, I will be very much interested in making a linux driver for it. Unfortunately I do not know much about Windows programming.

Switching high->low could be done by going short time to susped to disk and then resume.
