hi all!

i believe this is the correct forum for this problem of display resolution of my laptop, compaq presario 2111ap.

as discussed elsewhere, i have managed to install multiboot options of DOS622 /Dos71 after windows XP was pre-loaded on this machine.
while starting the machine on dos i find that the display is centred to a smaller area of the 15"TFT screen (800 X600) as against the native resolution of 1024 X768.

under windows XP full screen resolution is obatined as suitable ATI RADEON IGP340 driver is loaded for running the chipset.

DOS obviously uses the bios calls for the display. THE phoenix bios KE-M1-73 (which i have recently phlashed (From compaqs SP30455 rompaq)) doesnot give the standard bios option of screen size or fullscreen resolution.

Under dos, i find vesa2 driver for ATI RS200M is loaded as the bios and runs; but even afer a month of googling i couldnot locate a third party video driver to load as TSR / to use as shadow vbios.

SO I THOT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO TRY EDITIING THE OPTION / HIDDEN MENU TABLES OF THE BIOS AND SO I HAVE DOWNLOADED JACKWANG'S PHOENIX BIOS EDITOR TRIAL VERSION 2.0.18E.

while opening the rom/wph file i encounter that module 'O" cannot be opened at XXXXX message; but the pack is opened.
i find there is a display1.rom module which doesnot open for editing; but only changing is allowed.

ok now the question after this ramble!
A) DO ANY OF YOU HAVE A PHOENIX BIOS WHICH ALLOWS A FULL SCREEN OPTION IN COMPAQ /HP NOTEBOOK?
B) IF SUCH A THING IS PRESENT, WILL REPLACING MY DISPLAY1.ROM MODULE WITH THE OTHER MODULE WORK? ANY SUCH ATTEMPTS AND SUCCESSES?
C)AND WHY THE EDITOR DOESNOT ALLOW ANY OPTION FOR DISPLAY?
regards.

there's a special key on the keyboard that maps the current screen to full-screen (doesn't change the resolution though). please consult your manual.
