hi guys,
back after a year or so after solving problem in my deskotp,
now it is the turn of my laptop to play traunt; i have a compaq laptop, 2004 bought; windows xp loaded; now the machine is out of warranty; yesterday, while using it i pressed the power button to make it go into hibernation; when i started it, the fan starts revving, the key board gets lit, the screen appears not to get powered, with the standard "Compaq" screen and the machine reboots;

the machine is set to start in harddive with multiboot options (using sbminit)

i tried the following:
1) removed the memory and reinserted the same;
2) tried to start without the hard-disk and using only the boot floppy
both didnot help

i have the following questions:
1) if the cmos battery is down, will this happen?

2) if it is the question of reloading bios, how to go about it, when the machine doesnot boot even in dos?

regards

Look like a hardware fault; take it to repair shop. They can observe the bus with monitoring the fault codes what is the problem.
