I got Fujitsu Siemens AMILO A 1650 G with Turion 1,8Ghz.

Latest bios is installed : phoenix R01-A1I

I am wondering if there is any access via BIOS to the cooling fan controls like temperature when it starts or rpm.

Anybody can open this bios in MODBIN or any other app? I still can't and dont know why ;(

PS. Well, everything starts with the fact that fan (from SEI) when working, makes noises that makes me dizzy and tired after few hours.. I have done undervolting -1,8 at 1,15 V, thermal grease (Arctic Silver 5).

I guess fan starts when the system reaches 1,8Ghz, because now, during brake- in period for thermal paste/grease I have max 49C at 1,8ghz, and 36-42 at 800 mhz (before was 55-65, and 45).

Well modding the bios may be overkill to make cooling fun sillent. Also overheating may cause stability problems.

What you could do is to limit the multiplier and core voltage so that CPU runs cooler. You can achieve this with for example Rightmark CPU clock utility.

For example I was able to get my Amilo SI1520 run much quiter after I lowered Vcore on different multipliers. It may take some time to play to find how low you can go.

I know, I have just undervolted cpu, but the fact is - cpu fan works in my opinion quite noisy due to technology of bearing production.

there are several solutions to this problem:

1. replace the fan
2. build a simple analog regulation circuit that controls the fan
3. email fsc and ask them to reduce the fan speed

i bet that FSC will not solve your problem, but you can still try and email them. maybe they'll offer to replace the fan.
anyway my advice: if you'll buy a laptop, go and buy a HP/COMPAQ or DELL. they are worth every penny you pay in terms of performance AND quality. this includes fans :)

How low is Vcore on lowest multiplier?

Maybe you can still lower it by hacking the Vcore regulator on the mainboard?

undervolting: 4x (200mhz bus) - 0,825V and this seems to be stable lowest.

fan: Hmm fan itself is not too noisy because I turn it on with external ac/dc adaptor at 4,5v ( fan is 5v and 0,5 A) and it started to spin slower and is quite silent. But when installed inside laptop and PWM grey cable is unplugged the fan doesnt start at all.

So it seems to be a matter of speed settings, I could probably connectg fan to usb power and let it spin slowly all the time. But I wanted to try acpi and PWM functions if possible

Maybe somebody knows how to add new code or sth to Speedfan or NHC to control fan?
