Version 3.14 for A8AE-LE

Oh and sorry for the double post but I just wanted to let people from previous posts know that if you have no options you can try to flash from either freedos or a nice linux live distro like slax. Just google freedos and it should take you where you need to go. Place all files you need on one bootable cd and reflash your bios from there. I haven't tried to do a flash from linux yet but I'm sure there are some similar tools out there.

Please will someone e-mail me 3.14?

Have the Compaq Presario SR1830NX with 60->100% constant CPU usage indicated by Process Explorer as a "hardware interrupt".

The condition appeared after downing loading 3.13 Bios and key board fix from HP.

can someone please email me the 3.14 bios? I am working on an HP Pavillion a1330n. It is very urgent and it is for a computer client of mine. I appreciate your help in advance.

I could use that 3.14 bios too. Fixing a compaq for a friend.. Hey, has anyone ever ran into an issue where they get stuck at "Setup is starting windows..." part of a cd-boot Windows XP install... I'm currently stuck there and hoping the 3.14 bios fixes it (orig 3.07, updated to 3.13)

hmm after upgrading bios xp media center has 100% cpu usage, and fedora core takes forever to load send mail..... winhexing the 3.14 bios shows evaluation version not for resale or something along those lines. Any help at this point would be appreciated. Oh another thing is that sometimes now my computer will just hang when i power on...no post no nothing.

Ok I was having quite the time reflashing to my old bios because both winflash and the dos award flash version 822a were saying that i didn't have an award bios.....luckily I was able to get winflash to work after a few more tries and overwrite the 3.14 with the old one. Did I miss something? My computer works better with the 3.13 that I had and 3.14 was supposed to eradicate the high cpu usage. However all it did was make it much much worse. Oh also what differences were made according to winhex there are about 304,000 differences between 3.13 and 3.14 ? I just don't want to chance using it again if I flashed it wrong before or what.... Could it be I didn't hit update all check mark in winflash for the 3.14?

You are using the winflash utility from esupport, right? I don't quite understand why the 3.14 is so allergic on your system. If 3.13 works better for you I'd stay there for now.

I am using the winflash linked in this thread. I think the problem was with the onboard video. I got paranoid after not being able to fix the 100% cpu issue and tried to reinstall windows but after windows setup loaded the drivers for sata controllers and what not it said out of range on my monitor which never happened before using the 3.14 bios. Anyway do you think it was that I didn't check update all tab? I did that for flashing back to 3.13 but not for 3.14. Oh do you know where I can get a newer version of modbin then 2.19 ?

sorry have been on a bios adventure lately and haven't had time to check back. I got modbin from around the net and yeah I meant version 6.0 my bad. It was cbrom 2.19 that I was talking about...lol sorry about the confusion. I am testing a few things still at the moment.

I have zero clue why hp would put a bios update on their page and ruin my puter.Does anyone have a 3.14 maybe that will help.I added 2gb of ram upgraded to a athon 64 4000 and nvidia 6800gt and the puter is still worthless after my mistake of blindly thinking i was updating my bios.I have a dual boot setup with xp/vista but vista runs like xp would on a p2 300 lol.Please inbox me the bios i can't find anywhere

Less than 24hrs i got mail.And got a new machine

Althought you 3.13 bios running xp doesnt show you that much a hit.Vista ran like caRAP.Could never finish a performance rating as it stopped cold and said to many i/o conflicts.Once 3.14 was installed BINGO A 4.2 PERFORMANCE SCORE FOR ULTIMATE.Before 3.14 it took forever just to open a stupid window.If you are planning on running vista you NEED 3.14.The 2nd link for the away driver worked flawless and there is no longer a missing device ,which was media center edition related.On vista it is already there so no need for the away driver.I do get a press f2 for the system fan on boot but no big deal ,i have a system fan from compaq that they sent me for free ,just call support and tell them you have the f2 system fan issue ,my 1710 was out of warranty but they sent me one anyway.I was wondering why comp usa last march 06 had this pc for 199 no rebates.At the time a 3400 939 dual ddr sempron machine was just hitting shelves.replaced the 256 with 4 512 sticks and dropped in a 6800 videocard and had a very nice pc.Esp for 199 price The maxtor 100gb sata drive is bargain basement and is the lowest score on vista now.
The 3.14 saved me the cost and hassle of ripping everything apart just to change to a new m/b .The compaq case is nice ,ps although under powered is stable and you cant beat the intergration of the card reader ,audio ports and front back usb and firewire ports.I just can't understand why hp doesnt take an hour of 1 of their techs day and put together a decent bios for a decent pc.
