I have the problem with the no 1440x900 resolution. i tried the bios on the download page for the ss51g but it doesn't work.

it has the sis 651 chipset. not really sure how to get any other bios info.

here is the link to my motherboard's latest bios (for winflash):

http://eu.shuttle.com/download/Archive/ ... 51s038.bin

can somebody help me with patching this bios?

thanks!

Please post your current Bios-ID, it's just to verify you indeed have the revision 1.x motherboard and not the revision 2.x.
The Bios you linked to, the S0xx Bios, is only used on revision 1.x motherboards.
A Bios for the Revision 2.x motherboard is already available at our download page although incompatible to revision 1.x motherboards.

Hi,
I just patched a bios for the FS51 V1 board using the excellent how-to from this site.
I flashed it and it works a treat. 1440X900 no problem.
It's not at all obvious which version the one already listed is for. There's nothing the the board revision column.

Anyway the bios I've patched is the 038 version 10/01/2002 (latest bios) for the Shuttle SS51G with FS51 rev.1 motherboard.

Here it is: URL no longer working sorry

I flashed this with Winflash from XP SP3.

Hope it helps someone, this site saved my ass!

Hi. I have the same problem - no widescreen resolutions on my FS51 V1 Shuttle. Please can you direct me to the location of a patched bios or could someone send me one. I would be most grateful.

Many thanks,
DG

Hmmm my link seems to have gone dark.
I've contacted the admin of the server who has a backup somewhere as I seem to have deleted the copy I made. I must have burned it onto a CD-R somewhere in order to write it to flash but it's buried in a huge pile of cdrs!
Failing that it's running on the machine I'm typing this from so I can always extract it again.

I'm working on it.

No offence to anyone here. You are obviously running a great forum and providing a great service to many people but...
Both last year when I was first looking and today I have really struggled to find the download page. Maybe it's just me but I couldn't find a link to it in any of the obvious places. Anyone else struggling it's here:
http://www.wimsbios.com/files/vgabiospatched/bios.jsp

Now I've found it I see that, yes, it has the patched bios for the ss51g V.1 board.

Anyway thanks again because I'm still using that board now! :D

Many thanks for all your help! Bios successfully upgraded.

However, I have noticed that only 1440 x 800 is available i.e. no 1280 x 768. Is this a limitation of the driver I'm using or the bios ?

Once again,thanks for your help.

Hmm,
I'm not too sure. I only ever ran at the native resolution of my monitor which was 1440x900.
I don't have that monitor any more so I'm back at 1024x768. Currently I have available:
800*600
1024*768
1280*720
1280*1024
But that's with a 4x3 monitor.

Whih bios did you use in the end?

1280x768 is not supported by the SiS Windows driver. you could use an add-on pci vga card or change to Linux which supports virtually any resolution with its 3rd party driver.
