OK, first questions for a newbie in this group. Hope someone's listening. Here goes:

1. I just put together a new system. Abit IT7-Max 2 vs & P4 2.4 533FSB.
The question When I boot up, a screen comes up scanning the Highpoint ATA RAID. (It's a phoenix Award BIOS.) I'm only using a single 60 GB WD HD. Do I need this program at boot up?
If not, can I disable it?

TIA

Your Board has a Highpoint RAID Controller OnBoard - if you don't need it it's possible to disable it in Bios or per Jumper
Read your manual as you should always do with a new motherboard !
