Someone just gave me a PC (I'm told it has an AMD processor equivalent to a Pentium III), but it has no OS and it won't boot from a cd-rom drive because the BIOS doesn't allow that as an option.

So, I would appreciate advice on how to update the BIOS so that I can attempt to install Windows on it from a CD.

Here's what I see at the BOTTOM of the screen when I boot up the machine: 02/24/00 ALLADIN5-P5A-B-00

Here's what I see at the TOP of the screen when I boot:
Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
Asus PSA-b ACPI BIOS Revision 1010

Thanks,
Spence

Okay, I downloaded the BIOS update that Edwin kindly directed me to. However, there's only one 86 kB file in the download -- no instructions about how to install the update.

Can some help?

Thanks,
Spence

If you email me include [WIMSBIOS] in the subject.

I'm almost ready to jump in. So with my motherboard, which of these two instructions should I use?

P5 (socket7) or P5 (LGA775) series?

Thanks,
Spence
