hi. inspiron 1100 - motherboard fried

what is (are?) the decision criteria to replace a fried motherboard spoiled by water?

i removed all removables (memory, cd, c, modem, battery). computer does not even beep (but the power light is solid, as well as the low battery light). Dell said the mother board is fried. makes sense.

but, what does it cost of a new mother board? is it priced with a cpu? how do i know that resolves the problem?

will "any" motherboad do?
or am i stuck buying from dell?
