HELP!
to get a new BIOS from the intel website, I need to know a motherboard ID string of 2 letters 3 numbers and 2 letters again. I do know its a 440 BX, but how do I get to know the first 2 letters. Intel has a SR440BX, a RC440BX, or a JN440BX, so how should i know?

I take it your machine isn't bootable? This should help:

Flash your BIOS at your own risk.

Starting with the AN430TX and the LT430TX, all Intel motherboards have the type number printed on them. Clearly visible.
An alterntive would be to post the AAxxxxxx-xxx number along with the IXXXxxxxxxxx serial number on the stickers.
If you can't find those, it's not an Intel board, just a motherboard with an Intel chipset.
