Looking for a bios update
Having problems with the ACPI. Getting this error message in the event viewer:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: ACPI
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4
Date: 10/29/2003
Time: 7:00:33 AM
User: N/A
Description:
AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address
(0x71),
which lies in the 0x70 - 0x71 protected address range. This could lead
to system
instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical
assistance.
I think it might be affecting a cdrom drive (not sure about that) but I do know that it causes the system to freeze up...nothing works but the reset/power button. I've seen through many different sources that a bios update can solve this problem but maybe you can give me another idea but a diagnostic program I used says the bios is out of date anyway.
Thanks again

Luckystar has been dead for a while. Only archived (and incomplete) copies of their site are available.
The known BIOS releases for your board are:
http://web.archive.org/web/200301030459 ... 62/K7vatp/
As you can see from the release date, you have BIOS version A2. Version B2 is the latest, but didn't manage to make it to the archives. Version B1 is a available but the file proved corrupt (last byte missing), so I "fixed" it and it seems to be healthy again.
I'll send it to you right now by email. It's up to you to decide if you want to try it, ok?
