Hi,

My friend has an M591 motherboard whose BIOS I would like to update.

When it boots it says J591A A1.5 05/19/98
Award modular BIOS V4.51PG

It doesn't appear in the list on the PC Chips web site.

Do you need more info?

Not PCCHIPS.

But I suppose it's this one.

Hi,

Had a lot of trouble locating the manual and BIOS for this board.

Yes it truly is a jetway 591 motherboard.

Clicking on 591 in the Downloads/old boards section will get you both the latest BIOS & the manual.

This was very useful. The BIOS that is there was undated... it happens to be 26/6/98 which is a few months newer than my 20/3/98 BIOS.

The new BIOS correctly identifies my Cyrix 300 whereas the old one thought it was a 266.

The SIS flash software was a bit annoying as I went through 3 versions before I found one that would recogise the chip correctly: Award flash V8.08.

Even with this software it refused to make a copy of my BIOS so that I could roll it back if worst came to worst.

So it was with bated breath that I hit Y to the program request... but it all turned out OK.

The BIOS is only 128kb in size whereas the previous ones were 2xxkb in size... so don't worry.

Every thing is now hunky-dory.

:-)
