This info was supplied by gateway 2K tech support. This info was hard to come by, they didn't want to give me any info. I contacted Intel with this info and was told this isn't a Intel MB only the chipset was. My question is how can I determine who's MB this is? I want to upgrade the motherboard with one that's compatible while keeping everything else as is. I.E. monitor, soundcard, cdrom, etc.. As you can see this is a old system, I figured I could save a few dollars doing to install myself. Any help will be greatly appreciated

BIOS: AMI BIOS
RAM capacity: 256 megabytes (MB)
PCI bus speed: 33 megahertz (MHz)
BIOS version: 1.00.04.CS1T
PCI chip set: 82440FX
ISA bus speed: 8.33 MHz

more from gateway.

Intel 686 200
MHz PCI MB, the part number for this item is
MBDSAC067AAWW, 2500384.

Lastly my bios information. (BWZ.exe)

BIOS Manufacturer : American Megatrends licensed to Intel
BIOS ID : BIOS Version 1.00.04.CS1T
BIOS Date : 05/21/96
BIOS OEM Signon :
BIOS ROM Size : 256K
Chipset : Intel Natoma 440FX rev 2
Super I/O Chip : NSC 307 rev 3 found at port 2Eh

Can someone point me in the right direction

Thanks in advance

Sincerely
F

I contacted intel and they stated and i quote"
The information you have provided indicates that this is a non-Intel motherboard, which contains an OEM version of an Intel(R) Chipset. Several system manufacturers integrate an OEM version of a particular Intel(R) Chipset into their system designs, which are then incorporated with other system components, such as power supplies, disk drives, add in cards, software, etc. These systems are customized according to the specifications of the motherboard manufacturer. Please contact the manufacturer or place of purchase for support, as they are familiar with the total configuration of your integrated system and the way all the features interact with each other.

We can recommend looking at the following web site for assistance in determining your board manufacturer.

Sorry for the long quote but I felt it necessary.
I also receive this from GW2K today

"G6-200 Pentium Pro Motherboard - Product # 2500384"

These people run you around till your ready to give up I'll never buy another GW product as long as I live. I make my own system if I have to.

enough with the rant, from Intels point its not a intel board.

Best,
Francis

In spite of what everyone claims/denies, it is an Intel VS440FX (Venus) OEM board supplied to Gateway by Intel. The Intel BIOS for their board is 1.00.xx.CS1, the OEM version adds the T suffix to indicate Gateway 2000.

This is an ATX board with a PentiumPro processor - did you wish to re-use the processor as well? If not, what did you have in mind, P3, P4 or Athlon CPU?

Here are some links of your board and the Intel version:

Hmmm, I think I'm going to try and find out who Rick P. is and tell him a thing or two about what is an Intel board...

I started building that list in 1997 and have told them numerous times where to find it and that it's OK to quote me on that. Sigh...
