I observed no beeps and POST code "CF" only. caps are ok. I observed there are 2 types of bios updates for the V1.4. Its "S" or "L". I only used the "S". I think I want to try the "L" if I have time soon. By the way, VRM 5V/12V i cannot locate. Pls enlighten me about VRM.

The L and S stand for Long and Short, and has to do with how the BIOS is laid out internally, and MUST match the BIOS chip that is installed in the board.

You CANNOT switch between the two.

What is the part number of the BIOS chip itself?

From that information, you can find out if it takes the Long or Short format (as it is a physical parameter of the chip itself).

Here's the BIOS chip number as printed on the IC :

H.T.
M12496
T9711

That's all.

AFAIK these H.T. chips are almost all relabelled Macronix MXIC 28F1000PPC

I had several of them and it was not easy to reflash them. Uniflash had trouble detecting them so I used the Ami Flashprog Aminf329 with some predefined options tweaked (bootblock programming enabled, not checking Computer and Flashrom installed Bios) and manual set not to reboot and not to clear CMOS.

IIRC, H.T. M12496 (Macronix MXIC 28F1000PPC) is Long Block, so you would use the "L" version of the BIOS.

I would verify this first though before proceeding.

PPC should be short block, 1000P is long block. Uniflash website may show it better.

Thanks Denniss for the update. I looked @Uniflash website, but I couldn't find that information.

I know I have a datasheet around for this...I just can't seem to find anything lately... :-(
