Gateway Essential Series

Intel i810 chipset. Max. 256MB per slot and thus max. 512MB RAM. check the Intel BX RAM FAQ for supported RAM types.

Ok thanks. It can support ecc ram, but I was trying to figure out why it was seeing a gig stick as 256. Now I know

Is there a updated bios file. The only one I found was this

It seems P06 is the latest Bios for your board, you have the older P03 installed.

ECC is not supported by the Intel i810.

Yeah I know, but it works. Just comes up with a spd error, but it actually does work and is stable!

the error correction simply doesn't work as it's not supported. it behaves just like a simple sdram without error correction with the i810.
