Hi, i've just registered as i need some information desperately. I hope someone can help me!
I'm trying to format the hard drive on an old Gateway PC that has had Windows XP installed on it. I have searched this site and the whole internet to try and find how to access the BIOS settings.
When i start the PC there are no on-screen messages stating how to enter the BIOS. The thing is booting from the hard disk before anything else so i cannot format the hard drive at all.
The motherboard is an Intel Santorini, part number 4000729. I have found the motherboard on Gateway's site, the link to the page is http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/I ... 7401.shtml. I have tried searching for the serial number which is 0001958829 but it is not found.
All i want to do is format the damn thing! Can somebody help me please?!?!

I've figured it out! It was the jumper on the motherboard that needed changing. Just got to do a boot disk now so i can clear the hard drive.
Thankyou for your information and efforts, it is greatly appreciated!
