Hi can somebody please patch this Bios to support HD> 64GB (currently it only supports 60/65GB according to various postings on the net.)

This mainboard is an OEM special version from MSI produced for "MEDION" and not supported by MSI-the most recent BIOS from MEDION is ver 1.8 which has the 64GB bug. (BIOS available at www.medion.de =>"Service Pool"=>"Treiber&Updates"=>"Treiber"=>"BIOS"=>"PC-BIOS"=>"MD 9901 (ZX-Chip) 1.8 29.11.2001"
I want to use a new seagate barracuda V 120GB with this board.

THX a lot for the patch (and how quickly you did that!!!).
I flashed the BIOS and the board still works-so no problems with it.
I cannot tell if the patch actually does its >64GB job, cause i got no big HD yet, but in jannuary or so i will get a new one.
I will report back again then.

this is just because this emailprovider had a problem when i created this freemailaccount-so it took me 10 emailadresses to create!!!, till one of them worked for me (sms forwarding to my cell phone)- so i was quite pissed of and therefore the " " in the adress:)

Is it quite sure you think it works now with 120GB, because it is a "simple" "standard" fix on such motherboards (msi)?

MSI board are pretty standard so yes, we are pretty sure. We can't be sure 100% until it is actually tried ofcourse but usually they do.

just wanted to tell you that this patch works perfectly now with big HDs -verified with eg:WD80GB.

Can you make this publicly available, so that everyone with an "ALDI / Hofer (Medion) P3-500Mhz" finds this update?

Maybe not yet. Version 1.84 has just been released (23.01.2003). Perhaps you might want to try it instead of your currently working patched release.

i see- is this official release 1.84 also capable of 128GB? (if you can see this...)- i dont have a big HD yet- but i gave the old 1.8ver to some people who tried it.

all 2001 and newer award bioses are supposed to handle up to 128GB. Let us know please, we might retract the patched version...

so i ve some responses from testers-this "new" bios (1.84) is actually from 24.5.2000 and does not work with big HD. It is 1.8b4 and nothing new is visible.
Perhaps a patched 1.84(1.8b4)ver would be great.

Since you happen to be the only person on the entire internet with info on the MD9901 board (or at least the only one I could find), I'm OK with that. Not sure about the other mods or Rainbow yet.
