Need BIOS update for extra RAM

I just put in a Kingston 512MB DDR 400 RAM chip in my eMachines computer to accompany the 256MB one I already had, 'cause it was slow. I went to Buest Buy and asked the Geek Squad and they gave me that chip, and whenever I use a large program, such as editing software or an online game, after a while, the computer crash-restarts suddenly and gives me this page here: http://wer.microsoft.com/responses/Resp ... a9719ecb8b

Check to see if your board is indeed marked VC37. If so it also should be marked PCB ver 1.2 or 1.3 or 2.0 and depending on that number you can use one of the bioses on the downloads page from the emachine-upgraders page for your board.

I started the test thing... and it's been running for the past 8 and a half hours. I'm using my mom's computer at the moment. Does that thing end, or... what?

And as for the motherboard, how do I check which version it is?

looks like one of your RAMs is faulty. remove one of the modules and run the test again.
