I'm starting to wonder if it's not some Y2K6 self destruct mechanism...
I wanted to update the bios because of power issues, ie. would not shut down thru software nor hardware without holding down the power button for 4-5 seconds.
MY MAIN question is, how long should it take for the bootblock mode to recognize the AMIBOOT.ROM? I have now collected almost all the variants of bios for this board. It was identified by the ami-ID to be an ECS (EliteGroup M925). Unfortunately I did not know that the provided flash program would not automatically save or even prompt to save the original bios. doh.
Flash failed and now so is my sanity.
Other than the power issues the board was working fairly well for the time I had it running which was about a day.
Has anyone ever sucessfully recovered via the bootblock failsafe?
I put the floppy in formatted to 1.44, hold down ctl + home and turn on the box. It then continually acceses the floppy, ie. "access...beep...access...beep...etc. ad infinitum"
The jumpers are all correct.... Should I short the cmos DURING the flash?!?!? I took out the cmos battery the last time I cleared it and left it out now since I was having no luck otherwise.
I've also tried putting amiflash.com and dos4g.exe and F82741.exe on the disc as well but to no avail.
I also put in a query to the bios site but no word from them, yet. Maybe the holiday has kept them busy.
? h e l p ?
I'll put up the ami-id info page once I get it off the drive that I didn't back up, if that will help.
: Here's the amibid info for future referrence...
