I don't know where to begin...

Please forgive me if i should be breaking a rule. I need some help as i dont understand computer language. I am seeking help as my cd-rom(?) the part where you load the cd will not open. I have a rebuilt computer that I bought from a friend, i was going to load the norton antivirus cd and i can't get the cd part to open.
As i said earlier please forgive me if i have broken any rules.

It's a little far afield, but why not.

1. Did it ever work?

2. Does the CDROM power up? (ie: lights flash on the unit when you turn your pc on?

yes it did work and yes the lights flash when i restart and turn my computer on
but it wont open now

Ok, there should be a tiny little hole on the face of the unit. With the pc off, gently insert a straightened paper clip, and feel for the release "button" inside.
