Hello folks!

I have a U-Buddie PC that is to be used as a car-pc one day. The mainboard is an ECS ES4M+ v1.9 and the CPU was a 1.7GHz Celeron, which worked fine. The Bios is an AMIBIOS.

I just wanted to replace it with a Mobile Pentium 4 - M 2.0 CPU because it has a way smaller energy consumtion. You may want to check Celeron and Pentium at the Intel site.

Now the P4 is just recognized as 12.0x100 = 1.2GHz P4 - M and the CPUID is displayed almost correctly as 0F29 (notice the missing "h"). In the Bios setup it is not allowed to chang the ratio. The Celeron ran at 17.0x100 = 1.7GHz, so this is not the problem.

I just need to unlock the CPU Ratio setting and have not had any luck yet.

I successfully added the GPU firmware into the Bios alredy (SIS650) with the amibcp tool. Now I'd like to update the microcode or do whatever needed to let the Bios identify the CPU correctly. I could not unlock the option in the amibcp tool so what can I do?

I'd really appreciate any help.

Thx Ceekay

Edit: I've found a file that containes code like that (about 1MB total)

Code: Select all

0x00000001,	0x00000013,	0x07162002,	0x00000f0a,
0x2a2cc3cb,	0x00000001,	0x00000001,	0x00000000,
0x00000000,	0x00000000,	0x00000000,	0x00000000,
0xffffffe9,	0x80e0e61a,	0x7cb2c607,	0xbe1e2fc9,
Is this what I'm searching for? Thx Ceekay

Edit2: I found out that the P4 CPUs have somehow locked CPU Ratio (multiplier). Thats exactly what the Bios setup tells me: Cpu Ratio : locked! With the Celeron installed I can turn the value from HW/trap (or so) over 10 to 24, so it shall be no problem if the Bios knows that the CPU is a 2.0GHz and puts it to 20 automatically.

I also found a section inside the BIOS that is labelled P6 Micro Code. I can export this to file but I don't know what to insert there?

Please help me guys!
