Hi, I'm enjoy messing around with computers in order learn about them. I have an interesting question for anyone who thinks they can help me. Here's the run down. I have a Windows 2000 Professional backup cd for a gateway computer that I found in a junk pile. I have taken this cd and am trying to upgrade a Dell Optiplex computer with a windows 98 OS. The Setup process goes well until the computer restarts. This is what appears after I select the computer to boot up with Windows 2000:
verifying system......
Error:BIOS system not present
This product is only licensed for a computer manufactured by Gateway, Inc.
System halted. Reboot to continue.
This is my question can I change the BIOS on my Dell computer or change the cd somehow to match the BIOS on my cd. If anyone can lend any type of help I would appreciate it.
Interesting Problem

The CD looks for a Gateway Bios stamp and does not find ot so it does not work .
A Backup-CD from Dell might work .
Search the net how to make a real System disk out of a Backup/Recovery System disk
