how hard would it be to modify a bios by adding an SMBIOS? my bios lacks and SMBIOS and a particular os i'm using needs it/one. would be possible to add one in to it?

1999? What exactly is your board and what OS are you trying to run?

I have a BioStar P4M900-M4. for some reason Chameleon boot loader/10.6 snow leopard hackintosh can't detect my SMBIOS. Perhaps if some one can confirm that my mobo does indeed have SMBIOS i can take my problem/questions back to the hackintosh community.

it still worked in 10.5.7

but it seems your board needs special care already:

why using a patched kernel in the first place?

oh and it is SMBIOS enabled because it uses an award/phoenix 6.0 core.

you need a patched kernel for 10.6 as i'm suing 10.6. since it's a pentum 4 skt 478 you need a legacy kernel.

so you are already using the patched kernel but still getting this smbios message? as I said, it works with a previous version so I think indeed some workaround was stripped from 10.6

I know you can make a fake SMBIOS to get things like "about this mac" and itunes working how ever i'm have an issuer with the video card only correctly but, not entirely correctly identifying. i'm starting to think maybe it's a coincidence.

http://www.osx86.net/topic/20063-hd5570 ... recognize/

However in the past few minutes my attention has shifted. i was over looking bios manual and i'm supposed to be able to over volt the CPU however that feature is absent however i am using a Pentium 4 mobile. Would be possible to to mod the bios to give/unlock that feature using this cpu? otherwise i was just gonna do a volt mod if possible.

I mean i have an issues with the video card not fully detecting (HD5000 instead of HD5570). I was thinking it was the SMBIOS but, perhaps it's just coincidence.

I also happen to be doing overclocking and should be getting the CPU voltage option in the bios but, i don't. is it possible to mod or force such option back in the bios? I think it may have to do because i'm using a mobile Pentium 4 versus a full desktop version.

Can you first set everything to defaults/within spec (e.g. not O'clockd)? If your card gets detected properly it simply doesn't like to be overclocked at the system bus end....

yeah i did that. I have kept it stock during instal and i haven't' started ocing till recently inbetween figuring out this odd video card issue. so i know it's not the overclock.
