Hi there,

got a MS5129 from MicroStar with AMI bios. BIOS is AI78F 110896.
After deleting the userpassword ( was enabled because of the kid ) the bios allways wants a password after RAM check. I tried all masterpasswords, but they don't work. The bios has a limit to 6 characters for the password. Even the "pause"-key is disabled.
There is a bq 3287AMT chip onboard, that includes the battery, so I can't take it out. No jumper to clear cmos on the board.
From www.plasma-online.de I recieved the tip to short the pins 12 and 21 of the bq - chip, but this doesn't work too.
I really need help, because it is not my own PC and my girlfriend's sister needs it back and she doesn't have the money to buy a new one.

thanks

Heiko

Shorting that pins should work. Your chip is Dallas DS1287A compatible. According to the datasheet, pin #RCLR (21) must be shorted to GND (pin 12) when the power is off. Make sure that you shorted the correct pins and long enough (a couple of seconds should be enough).
