Hi.
My Maxtor 80GB hard disk (4D080H04) cannot be detected by my VIA 503+ motherboard 4/12/1999-VP3-586B-W877-2A5LEF09C-00.
Award Modular BIOS v4.60PGA
when entering information manualy 16383 cylinders 16 heads 63 sectors,
i only get 8455mb.
I played around with the jumpers, on some strange setting the BIOS can read the drive as 32GB.
Current BIOS is 1.15JE36
have gone to FIC website http://www.fic.com.tw/techsupport/drive ... =VA-503%2B
and downloaded newst BIOS JE439 (5/23/00)
after flashing, no help. still crash when auto-detecting.
any ideas?
thanks

There is a beta BIOS talked about in the 503+ FAQ at:
http://www.fic.com.tw/techsupport/faq/faqs01va-503+.htm
that appears to take care of it.

Not sure about that. I'd try:
the latest Via 4in1 drivers from www.viaarena.com ?
later nvidia drivers (depending on what you have loaded now).
making sure the video card is not sharing an IRQ with any other peripheral.
www.nvnews.net for video card questions.
