Hi.

I'm spinning off this thread from "120GB: 03/02/00 i440BX-NS351-UA69KS01C-00" as it seems to become totally unrelated from the aforementioned thread.

I'm trying to install an 80GB hard drive in an old Micor computer bought at Dumoulin (Québec shop and brand). It is "powered" (if one can say it's powerful) by "awesome" Seanix technologies. The motherboard is an intel 440BX-based Seanix Gatineau. Annoying.

Here is the result of Bios Agent :

Program: eSupport.com BIOS Agent Version 3.42
BIOS Date: 03/02/00
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 03/02/2000-i440BX-NS351-UA69KS01C
OEM Sign-On: Seanix Gatineau BIOS rev.1.1
Chipset: Intel 440BX/ZX rev 3
Superio: NSC 351 rev 2 found at port 2Eh
OS: Win2000 SP4
CPU: Pentium III 600 Mhz MAX: 800 Mhz
BIOS ROM In Socket: Yes
BIOS ROM Size: 256K

The official Seanix BIOS update, http://www.seanix.com/downloads/Drivers ... u_bios.zip is the BIOS I'm currently using : rev 1.1.

I tried to use the following patch, http://wims.rainbow-software.org/kuriak ... 0128GB.zip on my computer and it didn't work : it scrapped the BIOS and I had to make an emergency patching of the "beast" using the magic of unereasable BIOSes.

I'm currently running the official Seanix BIOS update, which doesn't fix m problem. Can anybody help ? Can I just tell the BIOS it's a smaller size HD and then hope Windows 2000 will recognize the whole thing ?

*UPDATE* I've tricked it into believing it is a 32GB hard drive. Linux reacts perfectly (thinks it's 80GB), the Windows 2000 installer thinks it's 80 GB, my current Windows 2000 install thinks it's 8 GB, and I hate this piece of junk. I tried using Western Digital's Dynamic Disk Overlay, to no avail. It did nothing except add a blue banner and make me reboot to many times. Help !

Would the (functional) Columbia III BIOS upgrade work ? The two mobos are extremely similar, but I think my P3 is too fast for the CIII.

As it seems nothing is working, are there any options worth investing ?

Here's my current version of the BIOS, if anyone wants to try patching it ...

Bah, it's dead now, so I guess there's no point to this thread.
