Hi,

I have an MSI6111 LX Board which has been flashed to Rev. 1.8 of the BIOS from the MSI site. It doesn't appear to recognise any drive > 8 Gig.

Please Help...

Can't be, because version 1.4's release notes include:
- Added support for over 8.5GB IDE hard disks.

Are you using autodetect? Try to insert the HDD parameters manually. How big is your HDD?

I flashed it myself, and the bootup screen shows 1.8 at the top.

And Yes I also read the 1.4 release added support for > 8.5 Gig.

I am trying to autodetect - I will try manual entry of parameters.

Drives are WD307AA and WD205AA, 30 and 20 Gig.

Thanks...

Okay - added parameters manually as per WD site specs

Cylinders 16383, Heads 16 Sectors/Track 63, Landing Zone 16383, WPC 16383

After posting, screen shows correct size information for both drives. However, wont boot from drive. Perhaps the geometry was different in the previous machine where the drive worked. I'll check...

Any further help appreciated...

Ahhh, I could kick myself - incorrect drive jumper settings. These WD drives have a jumper setting for master, slave and single. If you select master you must have a slave. Selecting single allows the drive to be detected, when it is the only one installed....
