Hello!
I have two old IBM TP 600 2645-310 laptops that I want to update the BIOS on but the "flasher" requires AC-adapter AND charged battery. Does anyone know if you can go around this couse both my batteries are stonedead!
Sincerly,

How to update a IBM TP 600 without battery ?
I have some further questions...
What is the platform.bin ? Is there a standard for how big this should be ? I've checked different updates from various mfg's, for example Acer (laptop) and Tyan (ordinary mb) and both those platform.bin's are about 1 kb. The platform.bin ($0029000.fl2) for the IBM is 116 kb and the bios.rom ($0029000.fl1) is 512 kb, the same size as the ones from the other mfg's.
It just struck me that in the http://stderr.org/pipermail/thinkpad/20 ... 02259.html discussion they refer platform.bin as the .fl3 file, I don't even have this file. Typo from their side ? Or is there any other file on the BIOS disk that is supposed to be renamed to platform.bin ?
I have uploaded all the files from the BIOS diskette to http://www.algonet.se/~mister/bios/ along with backups of the existing BIOS with Uniflash.
Also, one last question, is there any way to backup your old BIOS with the Phoenix Flasher ?
Edit: I discovered one more thing, the 1.10 BIOS (and older) only have a .fl1 and no .fl2, the 1.11 was replaced by 1.12 that has both the .fl1 and .fl2 file.
