Never flash from windows. For HP systems: right click the servicepack and choose extract (install winrar first). This may also be a problem with the videocard. Try to replace it and see if the problem still exist. Maybe the DDC circuit is damaged. May also be a problem with the monitor. Some old monitors may have small incompatibillities with ACPI.
