This machine uses an ASUS CUV-NT Rev. 1.04 Motherboard. It has the original (v1.x) BIOS installed.
I know that the latest BIOS is v2.02 (Pavilion Pegasus BIOS Update, Release Date: 2001-06-19, Version: 2.02).
I was looking for the BIOS update history, so I can choose which version I *might* want to install.
I purchased this machine for parts for another machine, so I'm just fooling around with the leftovers for fun.
Thanks.

Well, I decided to put in the BIOS update from HP anyway.
With W2K, SP4, and all Windows Updates installed, the machine is stable.
The machine seems to have a problem with XP Home, SP1 however. As I browse the web, the display goes "black", the machine "freezes" for a second, then returns to action. Mouse pointer artifacts are left on the screen. I tried installing the VIA 4in1 v4.43 chipset drivers (only the AGP driver has seemed to have installed though), and I'm using the nVidia Forceware v61.76 video drivers.
It only seems to freeze like this while surfing the web...not in any other use that I have found (at the moment). Connetion to the web is via Ethernet (DSL).
Thoughts?

I have a main board that seems to run nicely under Windows 98, but seems to have problems with Windows 2000 or XP.
It appears that each time a new O/S is released, it is more demanding of the stability of the hardware than previous releases.
