I need the BIOS Update for the motherboard model DFI G586VPM.
They not recognize HD of size great than 8gb and don't boot from CDROM.

Regards!

Go to the DFI website http://www.dfi.com and download the corect BIOS.

It seems the latest BIOS for that board is dated 1996/03/15.

G586VPM BIOS at DFI:
BIOS ID string: 03/14/96-VLSI-590-2A5G7D4AC-00
BIOS OEM string: G586VPM BIOS REV.C3(3/14/96)
INT13h Extensions...Not present
=> Code not found: BIOS does not support HDDs up to 32GB!
Patching 32GB bug failed!

This BIOS is not patchable. Options:
- third-party controller with its own BIOS
- Disc overlay software such as EZ-Drive or whatever your drive manufacturer provides
- (risky) find a motherboard with the same chipset and super-I/O with a later BIOS and try flashing that BIOS. Be prepared to kill the mobo this way.

Nick and Rainbow -

Do you think his BIOS will take the patch that BIOSMan did for my DFI, or is he missing what is required altogether? My IPVG would not take over 8GB, but I think it did have the INT13h Extensions present, just not enough room for the usual patch...

The Int 13h extension code isn't there to patch. If apple_rom's patcher inserts hooks to a new Int 13h handler (which it may do, as it adds two modules into the BIOS) it may solve the problem. It does run without error on this BIOS. However, I've tried it on my Abit PH-5 BIOS which also dosn't have Int 13h extensions, and it fell over with an error, so I'm not able to verify what it does.
