I have a computer that was built for me so it isn't any specific brand. I am looking to upgrade from W98 to W2K and I think I need a BIOS upgrade but I am not sure. Following are the vital stats:
Intel M/B AL440LX
PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0
4A4LL0X0.86A.0014.P04.9710260606
These numbers come off of my start up screen.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanx

That .P04 BIOS is quite old, see http://home.earthlink.net/~billselk/al440lx/bios.html
I suggest you look at the Intel AL440LX site http://appsr.cps.intel.com/scripts-df-e ... ductID=198, select OS independent downloads.

And with the latest AL440LX bios it will run win2k no problem, provided you have at the very least 128MB inside and make sure it is quality memory. The only issues I have seen were all related to unbranded generic memory sticks.
