Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a bios (other than the hp one) that will work with the HP e-pc 40.
AMI bios
Intel i815E chipset
HP Motherbaord
I am wanting to fix some problems i am having, large HD size not being recognised, not being about to USB memory keys, and network adaptor not working under linux due to irq setting etc.
The HP bios setup doesnt have many option that can be viewed or changed.

Not sure if this helps, but do you have the latest BIOS (IW0108), available here:
BIOS, Instructions & Fixes
Also, Linux support for your PC here:
E-PC 40 Linux Support
BIOS upgrades have to come from HP, board is an OEM manufactured for HP.

Yeah i do have the latest bios... iw0108
I did see the linux stuff... but have heaps of problems with network card, work sometimes, sometimes not... under window works all the time..
So i have come to the conclusion its something to do with irq's or some other conflict.. and in the hp e-pc bios there isnt much you can change or see..
In linux the network card is using irq 5.. /cat/proc/pci... in windows irq 20.
I have downloaded an complied the latest linux drivers from intel (e100), and have also tried to force linux to use irq 20 with the ether=,,,, line in lilo.conf and modprobe options in module.conf.. still same problem..
I am using mandrake linux 10.1
