flash type - unknown flash (IWill BD100 Plus 1.1)

i'm trying to flash an IWill BD100 Plus 1.1 to the latest bios to support larger harddrives, but i always get an error "Flash Type - Unknown Flash"

I couldn't find a bios on iwill's site, but a google search revealed this page:

I got the 2000.12.12 bios from there and used the awdflash program that came with it (7.76B, (c)2000)

i clean booted (held down shift key to bypass startup files) from a win98 diskette and ran "AWDFLASH.EXE /CC /CD /CP"

the current bios is:
03/22/1999-i440BX-W977EF-2A69KI3IC-00

Use a clean DOS Bootdisk - see www.bootdisk.com for the "driver free for Bios-flashing" bootdisk creator.
Try Uniflash to update your Bios.
Make sure there's no Bios protection enabled by jumper or Bios setting

i had done a quick look through the bios settings and read the section in the manual about flashing the bios and hadn't seen any references to bios protection, but sure enough, on a second look there was the enable bios flashing option in the bios
