Hello there! :D

Right, I have built a computer with all the components brand new, the specs are:

p4 2.60ghz, 800mhzFSB, HT technology
1gb Twinmos dual-channel pc3200 400mhz RAM
ATI radeon9200 256mb ddr ram
Western Digital 'raptor' SATA (serial ATA) HDD
PcChips mobo m952 series (and does support the above specs)

I have loaded in XP Pro and done all the updates, However I am getting the 'blue warning screen of death' at random times, sometimes the pc will hold out for hours, other times it'll take 5 mins, also i get a lot of error reports, The help i need is:-

I have been advised to update my bios (I have v1.3A and want to update to 1.3B), I went to the pcchips website and downloaded the flash utility and the bios...flash utility is called 'AMINF339.exe', the bios is called '040226s.ROM'. I typed them both in DOS but all i get is 'bad command or file name' ... any ideas??? :cry:

I'd start by taking the RAM out of dual-channel mode, and running diagnostics on each stick singly.

Then I'd take a close look at the quality of your power supply.
Flash your BIOS at your own risk.

The PSU is a Q-Tec 400watt dual fan --- not sure how i'd test the quality,

and im not sure how to take ram off dual-channel mode, also could u recommend any diagnostic progs forr that ??

Ok, start by checking your manual to see how to configure the board to run with just ONE stick of memory. Then run a diagnostic like GoldMem on each stick separately.

Get Motherboard Monitor to see what kind of voltages your PSU is giving you. From what I can determine, Q-Tec is a lower end brand, so if the memory test doesn't help, you might consider replacing it.
